Bear Hotel - The Bear Hotel was origionally split into two seperate premises one nigt in 1924 the land lady saw a grey lady between two interconnecting corridors, she walked towards her thinking that she was guest that had gone astray however she vanished into a wall. 

Ruth Pierce and the Wheat - On Thursday the 25th of January 1753, Ruth Pierce of Potterne in this County, agreed with three other women to buy a sack of wheat in the market, each paying her due proportion towards the same. One of these women, in collecting the several quotas of money, discovered a deficiency, and demanded of Ruth Pierce the sum which was wanting to make good the amount. Ruth Pierce protested that she had paid her share, and said, ‘She wished she might drop down dead if she had not.’ She rashly repeated this awful wish; when to the consternation and terror of the surrounding multitude, she instantly fell down and expired, having the money concealed in her hand.
She was then taken to parnell house (just beyond the current location of the cinema) and she was declared dead she was then buried behind the house and it is said that she haunts parnell house and can somtimes be seen crossing to the corn house on the other side at about 2 in the morning.

The coroner, John Clare, recorded that she had been "struck down dead by the vengeance of God.

Cinema- 10 years ago three men tired to locate a ghost, and so they spent the night within the cinema and held a vigil, about midnight steps were heard on the stairs and a man appeard he was wearing buckle shoes nad a lace collar. They took photograpghs on film and the figure showed on the negative however over time the ghost with the buckle shoes and lace collar faded. 

House With gates near St Mary's church - 

Princess Augusta Sophia Hanover was the daughter of King George III, she was flirtaous and flighty in nature however she was stayed in Devizes and in 1789 her brother took her to a ball, this ended with her brother duelling for a duke 'making eyes at her' she secretly had a lover who used to visit her and she can be seen at the upstairs window on the top floor. 

The ghosts of four quakers can be seen in the darkness a mother, a father and two small children, belived to be quakers (1665)

The basement at Hill Worth Park was used as a mourge however it was turned it onother building later and two limbs were found. 

St James Hospitail a young girl  is seen in the dining room in long flowing robes floating jsut above the ground, when it was converted into a nursing home, the nurses used to move the elderly patiaents in there last days to a room on there own, and they could be heard talking to somone, it is said that lady visits them…
