About 90% of human DNA = non-functional DNA. They vary in length but consists of bases, 20-40 bases long, repeated many times. The number of repeats is different in each individual. This unique non-coding regions of DNA are call SHORT-REPEAT TANDEMS or HYPER-VARIABLE REGIONS. 

The technique of DNA fingerprinting

1.The DNA is extracted and cut into fragments using restriction enzymes
