FABRIC CONSTRUCTION

Fabrics are constructed in three ways - woven, knitted or bonded 

WOVEN FABRICS

PLAIN WEAVE 

Strong and hardwearing 

TWILL WEAVE 

Makes a diagonal pattern.  Used in denim fabric

SATIN WEAVE 

Gives a shiny smooth surface 

PILE WEAVE 

Loops of fibres are woven then cut to give a fluffy texture.  E.g. velvet #

KNITTED FABRIC

WEFT KNITTING

Can be by hand or machine
