Equations

Chemical equations are used to model the changes that happen in chemical reactions.

Word equations

In chemical reaction:

• reactants are the substances that undergo a chemical change in a reaction
• products are the new substances formed.

In general: reactants = products

Two or more reactants or products are separated b a + sign. In a word equation, you write the name of each substance, not its formula.
