English Civil War Triggers
Charles was a Protestant who acted like and married a Catholic. He made changes to the Church of England - extravagant services.
He was bad at managing the conflict with the Scottish and favoured his advisors more than parliament. He sent parliament away and ruled without them for 11 years 1629-1640.
Charles ran the country like a dictatorship for as long as he could which angered parliament.
