- Eukaryotic;

 Linear DNA molecules are really long, therefore they wound up around a protein called histones. They help to support the DNA. When it coils up rapidly around a histone it forms a single chromosome.

- Prokaryotic

DNA molecules are shorter and circular

They don't wound up around the histone. It fits into cells by supercoiling.

A gene is a sequence of DNA base that either codes for polypeptide chain (using mRNA) or functional groups.

Each amino acid are coded for by three bases in a gene called a triplet.
