Distance-Time Graphs

This is a graph with time on the x-axis and distance on the y-axis. Important things about these graphs are:

  • Gradient=speed
  • Flat sections mean stationary (stopped)
  • The steeper the graph, the faster the object
  • A straight diagonal line upwards (/) means steady speed
  • A straight diagonal line downwards (\) means steady speed in the other direction
  • Curves represent acceleration or deceleration
