Infared- Not very penertrating in food 

Microwaves- Penetrate upto 1cm into food 

                 - Penetrate glass and plastic 

                 - Reflect shiny metal surfaces 

There is a special glass in microwaves that reflect microwaves to protect humans from their body tissues burning. 

Energy is transferred by waves 

The amount of energy depends on the frequency or wavelength 

Remember-The higher the frequency and the shorter the wavelength, the more energy. 

Ovens cook food using Infraed radiation.
