  • Electromagnetic Waves
    • Uses  of electromagnetic waves
      • Can be reflected to change their direction, making them ideal for communication.
      • Can be produced by oscillations in electrical circuits. when radio waves are absorbed by a conductor they create an alternating current.
      • This electric current has same frequency as radio waves and the conductor could be for eg an aerial on a radio.
      • They are transmitted easily through the air and they dont cause damage to the human body.
      • Microwaves used for cooking, used to cook food and for satellite communications too.
      • Radio waves used for communication such as TV and radio.
    • Properties of electromagnetic waves
      • Electromagnetic waves are transverse waves.
      • They can travel through a vacuum.
      • They travel at the exact same speed in anvacuum as the speed of light.
      • Like always these waves transfer energy from one place to another, they can be reflected and can be refracted.
      • Each type of wave in the electromagnetic spectrum has different wave lengths and frequencies.
