1.Who is it for? How old is the patient? (adult/child)

2. What are the symptoms? Any discharge, pain, itching or visual disturbances?

  • Usually clear, watery ophthalmic discharge but can be mucopurulent if bacterial conjunctivitis is present.
  • Redness of the eye.
  • Ophthalmic itching.
  • Photophobia associated with more sinister pathology.
  • Pain is usually gritty and there feels like there is a foreign body present. Does not cause severe pain.
  • Any loss of vision or haloes around objects should be referred.
