Privation-the absense of an attactment to an adult

A follow up study on Harlows monkeys found that when they were later introduced to other monkeys they were terrified and even sometimes showing signs of agression, rocking and biting themselves.  A later study showed that these effects could be reduced if the monkey had a therapist monkey, the two monkeys cling togother.
