Rates of Reaction- Rate=change in concentration n time
The lower the concentration the slower the rate of reaction. Increasing the concentration of a reactant increases the number of particles in a given volume. This increases the number of collisions and therefore rate of reaction increases.
Reactions happen at varying rates eg. rusting is a very slow reaction and explosions are caused by very quick reactions.
Studying rates of reaction is important in areas such as:
- food preservation- how quickly food deteriorates
- pharmaceuticals- how quickly medicines…
