changing cities -

?

What is an urban area?

A place where there is a high density of human structures eg) houses, commercial building, bridges, roads, railways

Describe the urban growth rate in these regions: world, less developed, more developed

World: drastic increase in urban growth due to less developed countries so it makes the overall rate increase

Less developed: urbanisation is fast because many are moving to the bigger cities for work

More developed: urbanisation is at a slow rate because they have already urbanised some time ago

What is the pattern of change with megacities?

Most megacities are developing in emerging countries because they have money to develop and have space

Explain the rate of urbanisation in a developed country

The population grew during the industrial revolution (the 1800s), workers were needed in factories, etc.

As well as counter-urbanisation, many move away due to age, family, environmental problems

Explain the rate of urbanisation in an emerging/developing country

The rate is high due to a youthful population they seek schools and jobs to provide for their family

Rural-urban migration because people are seeking employment so they move
