What is an urban area?
A place where there is a high density of human structures eg) houses, commercial building, bridges, roads, railways
Describe the urban growth rate in these regions: world, less developed, more developed
World: drastic increase in urban growth due to less developed countries so it makes the overall rate increase
Less developed: urbanisation is fast because many are moving to the bigger cities for work
More developed: urbanisation is at a slow rate because they have already urbanised some time ago
What is the pattern of change with megacities?
Most megacities are developing in emerging countries because they have money to develop and have space
Explain the rate of urbanisation in a developed country
The population grew during the industrial revolution (the 1800s), workers were needed in factories, etc.
As well as counter-urbanisation, many move away due to age, family, environmental problems
