The interactions between the caregiver and infant shapes the development of attachments.
There are two designed to encourage attachment;
Reciprocity, the baby and caregiver will copy eachother, this interaction will result in mutual behaviour, baby learns that an actions will result in a response from the PCG.
Melzoff + Moore in (1997) Found 2-3wks old babies were able to mimic adults; facial expressions which suggests that the ability to immitate is an innate behaviour. Why? well for survival, once baby…
