Carbon is taken up by plants for use in photosynthesis to build macromoleculars like carbohydrates

  • When the plant is eaten it passes these nutrients on to the consumer
  • They are passed along the food chain
  • When the animal dies it is broken down by saprobiotic bacteria in to soluble molecules which they absorb , the carbon is then
