• communities are dynamic and are constantly changing
• succession is he change in structrue and composition of species over time

• primary succession: introduction of pants/animals into an area that has not previously suuported a community
• secondary succession: reintroduction of organisms inot a bare habitat previously occupied by plants and animals

• all successions involve changes in community structure and fucntion until the community reaches a climax of succession called a climax community

• seres: different stages in succession

• a community consists of plants and animals
• animals undergo a similar succesion dictated by the tpe of plant present at each stage
