BULIMIA:

  • eating disorder and a mental health condition
  • control their weight by severely restricting the amount of food they eat. they then binge eat and purge the food by taking laxatives or making themselves vomit.

CAUSES:

  • stressful transitions or life changes
  • history of abuse or trauma
  • negative body image
  • poor self-esteem

Major SYMPTOMS:

  • abnormal bowel functioning
  • bloating
  • dehydration
  • fainting
  • seizure
  • fatigue
  • dry skin
  • menstrual irregularities or loss of menstruation
  • muscle cramps

PHYSICAL:

  • a sore throat or stomach pain- first obvious physical side effects.
  • the acid content of vomit- cause damage teeth, gum disease
  • high acid of vomit- puffy cheeks or jaws from swollen salivary glands
  • putting a finger down the throat- scar skin due to exposure to acidity.
  • purging- cause dehydration, dry skin, weak muscle and extreme fatigue.

INTELLECTUAL:

  • children- fear of going to school, getting bullied- can't vomit during school time.
  • missing school days- won't learn anything due to insecurity
  • family- learn new things about bulimia- the difference between bulimia and anorexia
