Biology 2.1 Cells and simple cell transport



  • Cell membrane- holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out the cell

  • Mitochondria- where energy is released/ ATP is made

  • Cytoplasm- the area in which chemical reactions take place

  • Nucleus- where the cell’s genetic make up (DNA) is stored and controls the activities of the cell

  • Ribosomes- where protein synthesis from proteins occurs

  • Glycogen- energy store


  • Red blood cells- to carry oxygen via their haemoglobin molecules

  • White blood cells- immune system

  • Gamete cells- egg and sperm cells
