The Nervous System detects and reacts to stimuli.

The Nervous System detects changes in the environment, decides what to do about them and brings about a response.

Receptors - Receptors are the cells that detect stimuli

Central Nervous System (CNS) - Consists of the brain and spinal cord only. The CNS is connected to the body by sensory neurones and motor neurones (These make up the peripheral system).

Sensory Neurones - The neurones that carry impulses from the receptors to the CNS.
