The structure of an atom

  • The nucleus of an atom contains protons and neutrons.
  • Most of the mass of the atom is in the nucleus.
  • The masses and charges are weighed relative to each other because the actual values are so small.
  • It would take about  protons to weigh 1g
  • All atoms with the same number of protons are the same element.
