AQA B3

HideShow resource information

Dissolved substances will move via diffusion (along a concentration gradient) or via active transport ( againts a concentration gradient)

ACTIVE TRANSPORT.

  • When substances are absorbed against a concentration gradient.
  • Requires energy from respiration.
  • Allows cells to absorb ions from dilute solution.

For example when root hair cells absorb mineral ions from the soil against a concentration grandient.
