Red Blood Cells
Adapted to carry oxygen. Concave shape means bigger surface area for absorbing oxygen. No nucleus so more room for haemoglobin.
1 of 6
Egg Cell
For reproduction. Has food reserves for embryo. It's membrane changes once it has fused with a sperm cell so the offspring has the right amount of DNA.
2 of 6
Sperm Cell
For reproduction. Long tail and streamline head to swim quickly. Lots of mitochondria for energy. Has enzymes in head to digest through egg's cell membrane.
3 of 6
Leaf Cell
Absorbs light for photosynthesis. Lots of chloroplast, Cells closely packed to form layers for efficient absorption of sunlight.
4 of 6
Root Hair Cell
Absorbs water and mineral ions from soil. Long shape for larger surface area. Thin cell wall.
5 of 6
Muscle Cell
Lots of mitochondria for energy to move.
