advice for english lit aqa poetry exam (24th may)

Just some advice for the poetry exam.

before the exam

  • get a good night sleep
  • eat a good breakfast with lots of slow release energy
  • arrive on time and bring all the right equipment
  • read instructions on front of paper
  • bring some water: for me the exam is 1 hr 30 mins

structuring your answers

comparing poems

  • read what it wants you to compare and make sure you do it.
  • aim to write…

Im terrified of getting a long poem like Come on, Come back, doesnt really make much of a difference about the length, however if its a simple poem like next to ofcourse god america i or even falling leaves, it will be fantastic

Thank you for this! When I do comparison questions, I tend to use WRITER as the basis of my paragraphs.

W=who is speaking? What is it about? (Intro)

R=rhyming, rhythm [structure]

I=imagery

T=tone

E=effects

R=own response (conclusion)
