Aim: Investigate if the use of protective shields and videotaped testimony increases the likelihood of a GV.
Method and Procedure: Lab exp; independent measures design; 300 student participants; watch video simulation of a sexual abuse trial; Key witness 10 year old testifying in 3 conditions:
- Condition 1 - Open court
- Condition 2 - Behind a protective shield
- Condition 3 - Via a video link
Results: Ross found that there was no significant difference between the no. of GV in the 3 groups.
Conclusion: Can carry on using these measures to protect children because they don't disadvantage the defendant.
