What the cells contain

animal cells have ;

nucleus, cytoplasm, cell memabrane, mitochondria and ribosomes

plant cells have only three more :

chloroplast, cell wall and vacuole

what the features of the cell do

nucleus : this is where the genetic material is stored in the form of chromosomes

cytoplasm : the jelly like substance where chemical reactions happen

cell membrane : controls what molecules can enter and leave the cell

mitochondria : produces ATP which gives the cell energy and is also where aerobic respiration happens

ribosomes : synthesise protiens from the DNA

chloroplast : contains chlorophyll which is green, this absorbs the light and helps attract bees. it is also where photosythesis happens

cell wall : is made from cellulose which helps strenghten the cell

vacoule : filled with a fluid called cell sap. this helps give the cell its shape

bacterial cells

bacterial cells are singe celled living organisms. They have no nucleus so the DNA is found free in the cytoplasm. They have a slime capsule on the outside of their cell wall and a flagella whihc is a little tail to help them move around. Some bacteria have an extra bit of circular genetic material called a plasmid. A plasmid can carry extra useful information such as resistance to anit-biotics.
