 The growth and spread of Trans National Corporations, the rise of NICs, the rise of global economic institutions like the IMF and World Bank.

Involves realisation that global environmental threats require global solutions.

Results from increasing migration and mixing of populations.

Institutions like the United Nations, regional trading blocs and particularly the influence of western democracies and their influence on poor countries.
