  • Ammonia is made by combining hydrogen and nitrogen
  • Hydrogen comes from natural gas
  • Hitrogen comes from the air
  • It is a reversible reaction and can reach position of equilibrium

  • The equlibrium position is shifted to the right hand side (high yield of ammonia) by using a low temperature and a high pressure
  • However, reaction slow at low temp. so a comprimise of 450 degrees used
  • This is a comprimise between rate and yield
