storage- local or online?

data storage refers to the data you store in files

local storage data is when your files are stored on the device you are using

online data storage is when your files are not stored on the device you are usingthem, they require the internet to access them

LOCAL STORAGE:

- you have control over access to your files and security of the data 

-data can be accessed quickly 

-you do not need an internet connection to access the data 

- you are responsible for keeping the data safe

- it is difficult to share your data with others

- you have to back up your data 

ONLINE STORAGE

- the data is available whenever as long as you have internet access

- some online data storage servicesare free

- it is easy to share your data with others

- data is backed up for you

- you have to trust that the organisation storing your data will keep your data secure

- the online data storage may not be reliable

- you need an internet connection to get access to your data

- less control of data as you dont know where it is stored
