That the family is there to help the husband release his frustration. The family contributes to capitalism.

Looks at the womans position within the society and pragmatism.

Criticisms

Feminists have not considered the variations in Family life and have exaggerated. There is no backed detail.

Murdock believed that the family had 4 main points to carry out within the society.

Criticisms

There are many other social institutions.

Engels

Discovered the nuclear family and believes that the family has control over women.

Zeretsky

Believes that the family fuels capitalism and provides the production of new workers.

Criticisms

There is no proof that the Nuclear family came about at the same time as capitalism.
