• Improvised quality - played by the sitar
• Use of chand (triplets) in the Gat
• Use of meend to create the effect of bending sound
• Based of a rag - rag desh

  • Plays the tala

• Alap- monophonic in the very beginning (just the drone)
• The texture thickens when the tabla enters
• Texture thickens even more in the jhalla 
• Overall polyphonic texture

• Tala 1 - Jhaptal Tala
  • 10 beat pattern - 2 + 3 + 2 + 3
• Use of Tihai - Idea that is repeated three times
  • Marks the end of a section
• Tala 2 - Tintal Tala
  • 16 beat pattern - 4 + 4 + 4 + 4
