Influence of other departments on production
- The finance department decides how much money can be spent on equipment and wages.
- The marketing department tells the operations managers what customers want, and what they're willing to pay for it. Marketing will also say when the goods need to be produced to hit the market at the right time.
- The human resources department is in charge of organising employees. They need to know how many employees are needed, what skills they need, and whether they'll need training.
- These relationships go both ways. The marketing department can ask the production department to produce a large amount, but the production department has to say if it's possible or not.
