The marketing department tells the operations managers what customers want, and what they're willing to payfor it. Marketing will also say whenthe goods need to be produced to hit the market at the right time.
The human resources departmentis in charge of organising employees. They need to know how many employees are needed, what skills they need, and whether they'll need training.
These relationships go both ways. The marketing department can askthe production department to produce a large amount, but the production department has to say if it's possibleor not.
