Cost effective: some studies have compared flooding to cognitive therapies and found that patients get freed of their symptoms fast as possible which makes the treatment cheaper.
Limitations:
Less effective for social phobias as they have more cognitive aspects - they tend to unpleasant thoughts rather than experiencing an anxiety response. Cognitive therapies may be more suited for social phobias since they tackle the irrational thinking behind the phobia.
Treatment is traumatic: Some patients are unwilling to see the treatment until the end because it's a highly traumatic experience - this is a limitation of flooding as time and money is wasted from preparing the patients only to have them refuse or continue and complete the treatment.
