1. Fear Conditioning in Rats

Rats with Amygdala lesions cannot be fear conditioned

2. SM Studies

SM has has a bilaterally damaged amygdala but intact hippocampus.

SM feels no fear but is conciously aware of stimuli and fear in others

3. Patient Studies

Patients with damage to different areas of the brain were shown colours, some of which were followed by a startling noise:
