The phrase is attributed to a 1944 edition of the African journal American Speech: “You can't judge a book by its binding.” It was popularized even more when it appeared in the 1946 murder mystery Murder in the Glass Room “You can never tell a book by its cover.

To conclude, you never know someone's full story. If you don’t know their full story then you have no right to judge them on the little you know about them. They could be capable of doing way more than you think.  it might be hard not to judge someone but have ago at it as you wouldn’t like it if someone judged you. Other people's feelings matter not just yours.
