Consensus theories

Consensus theories are made of Functionalism, New Left Realism, New Right Realism and Subcultural Theories. Consensus theories all agree that most people are conformist, but some levels of crime and deviance are necessary because they allow society to reinforce its norms and values. Too little crime will mean no social change, whilst too much crime is dangerous. Consensus theories also believe that official statistics are facts, crime is universal and crime is inevitable.
