Absolute cell referencing

  • used when data needs to remain the same when formulas and functions are copied to other cells
  • if the value changes it only has to be changed once
  • uses dollar sign ($) in the formula to make it absolute

relative cell referencing

  • data in the cell changes when the formula is copied
  • when the formula or function is copied to other cells, the cell reference within the formula or function will move
