  • Christians belief in Monotheism, there is only one God. Unity is God's way of being one
  • Christians believe God is one because the Universe he created shows oneness
  • Christians believe in the Design Argument, that everything must have a creator and this pattern leads to God
  • The believe in Gods Unity because in the Old and New Testaments it shows that there is one God

The meaning of believing in God as the Father

  • He creates human life like a Father
  • Christians have a father-child relationship with God
  • God provides for his children and protects them from evil
  • Christians can turn to God when they need help

Importance of believing in God as the Father

  • The Bible shows Jesus referred to God as his Father and told his disciples to do the same
  • The Apostles Creed states that Christians believe in God as the Father Almighty
  • In the Lord Prayer we refer to God as 'Our Father'
  • God sent his son Jesus to save his children - this shows his Fatherly love for Christians
  • In the Bible God says "I will be Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters"

Meaning of believing in God as the Creator

  • Christians believe God created the universe and all the things in it ex nihilo
  • God is all-powerfull and all-knowing and the Universe was designed rather than being an accident
  • God created the world and as Christians we have a duty to look after God's creation. We are God's stewards
  • God created man in His image and humans were God's most important creation which is why we were last to be created

Importance of believing in God as the Creator

Believing in God as the creator shows:

  • God is omnipotent and omniscient as shown in the Catechism and the Creeds
  • The Universe was designed and was not an accident
  • Life is sacred because God created us in his image, therefore we must treat it carefully
  • God's love for humans
  • God is continually involved in the lives of His creation (like a father)
