1.2 Carbohydrates

These are my notes on carbohydrates. They consist of:

  • outline of carbohydrates
  • monosaccharides
  • glucose, and its isomers (galactose, fructose)
  • sugar ring formations
  • testing for reducing sugars - the benedict's test
  • disaccharides 
  • lactose intolerance
  • polysaccharides
  • starch (amylose, amylopectin and testing for starch)
