Causes

Stop and Search
SUSPECTS RIGHTS; Police must give their name and station, Police must state their reason for search, and if the search is in public can only ask suspect to remove outer coat, jacket and gloves

Effects

Must have reasonable grounds for suspecting possession of stolen goods or prohibited articles such as narcotics.
Must not stop only on basis of person factors ( race, age, previous known convictions)
Must have real reason

Overall summary

If these are breached the search is unlawful. Only about 13% of those stopped are arrested, suggesting that too many stop and searches are made.When there are fewer searches crime rates go up
