Advantages
- Peter was an eyewitness as he was there at the time
- Mark may have been an eyewitness to some events
- Christians believe the Gospel writers were inspired by God
- There are quotes in Aramaic of Jesus' real words
- Mark names other sources e.g. Bartimaeus and Simon of Cyrene
- Witnesses to miracles are named (Peter, James & John)

Disadvantages
- Peter was old so he may not remember correctly
- Mark might be telling us from his point of view
- Peter ran away when Jesus was arrested
- There are some differences between the Gospels in key stories
- Mark may of twisted the information
