Advantages

Hispanic successes:by 1980 president candidates were courting the hispanic vote and promised support for urban renewal projects, campaign for quicker school desegregation, voting act 1965, increase in chicano teachers
gay rights successes: by 1980s gays had an increasingly visible role in social and political life of the USA, less overt discrimination, more gay people coming out

Disadvantages

hispanic limitations: chicano movement was more influential nationally as bcr, continued discrim in all areas]
gay rights limitations: not all americans agreed, christian coalition launched crusades against gay rights, defence of marriage act (1996) defined marriage as only a union between one man and one woman

Evaluation

Native american, chicano and gay civil rights achieved most of their aims, definitely quicker than black CR but there were still limitations.
