James-Lange Theory of Emotion

Advantages

  • Can explain phobias,
  • Development in treatment in anxiety

Disadvantages

  • Emotions have similar physiological arousals
  • Cannon-Bard theory suggests physiological arousals happen at the same time as we experience emotion
  • Reductionist- over simplistic as brain processes emotions depending on the emotion
