  • He is a complex character who we see shows hints of socialist behaviour, however we question if he changes as at the end of the play, he is still a Capitalist
  • "I believe you are right sir"- supports Mr Birling
  • "You can drink to me"- sees Sheila as a property as he is superior
  • "Everything's all right now Sheila, what about this ring"- dismissive of events and materialistic as she still cares about ring.
