Overall comparisonBoth plant and animal cells have similar sub-cellular structures, plant cells have a cell wall made of cellulose to strengthen the cell, and a permanent vacuole-filled with cell sap- to keep the cell rigid enough to support the plant. In both cells, there is a nucleus, which controls all cell activities and contains chromosomes which have genetic information that code for making proteins need to build new cells. Cytoplasm- Liquid gel where organelles are suspended and where most chemical reactions take place.Ribosomes- Where protein synthesis takes place.Chloroplasts- Contain chlorophyll- a green pigment- which absorbs light for photosynthesis.Mitochondria- Structures in cytoplasm where aerobic respiration takes place.Cell membrane- Controls what substances enter and exit the cell |
