Advantages
- Get lots of "ideal" offspring
- The study of animal clones could lead to greater understanding of the development of the embryo and of aging and age-related diseases.
- Could be used to help preserve endangered species

Disadvantages
- Reduced gene pool - there are fewer different alleles in a population.
- It s possible that cloned animals might not be as healthy as normal ones.
- Some worry that humans might be cloned in the future. This could mean unsuccessful attempts e.g. children born severely disabled
