6.4 Cloning

Individuals which are identical to their parents are known as clones. It is more difficult to clone animals then it is plants.

Sometimes animals are genetically modified to produce useful substances before they are cloned.

Tissue Culture

Plant clones can be made quickly by taking cuttings from mature plants. Tissue culture is a newer method of cloning. It is where you take a small group of cells and grow tem under special conditions, and is more expensive. It can be used to reproduce large numbers of rare or top quality plant.
