- By defying Polynices of a proper burial that allows his soul to freely enter the underworld Creon is upsetting the gods as that is what they expect. It could be argued that this is the reason as to why all of the tragedy impacts Creon causing him hurt in so many ways
- The gods would be angry with Creon as he seems to believe that Human Law can be put above the gods which is beyond insulting
- Antigone however throughout emphasises that divine law always comes above human law and tries to warn Creon that he is upsetting the gods. This could essentially be argued to work in her favour
- Antigone ignores Creon's laws in order to fulfil the laws of the gods, she in fact tends to attack Creon's authority. Humans will always be below the gods
