HEAD GIRL INTERVIEW... =/

  • 2 votes

I was chosen to be a prefect. There are 10 prefects now in my year. All of us are applying to be head girl or 1 of the two deputy head girls. I really want to be head girl. The interview is going to be on the 8th May. I really want to do well in the interview.Any tips would be helpful... =). I know my competition is tough and I want to be head girl so bad it's unbelievable... I know what questions I'm going to be asked because last year I was a school councillor and I interviewed the applicants with the head teacher, HOY, and the prefect co-ordinator. The applicants were put under so much pressure I felt for them... =( Any advice would be helpful...

Be confident and truthful. Never let your guard down. And don't judge other people or say rude things. Be neat and organized. They don't want a sloppy, lazy girl. If I have any more tips I will tell you. Good luck!!

1. Smile. Smiling is the most important part of interviews as they allude confidence and show that you have a kind, confident and charismatic character.

2. Look presentable. Whether youre wearing a uniform or your own clothes, make sure that they are smart and clean. If its a uniform, then make sure it applies to all the school rules about how the uniform should be worn. If you wear makeup, make it natural, as teachers often dont like makeup that is too heavy or obvious.

3. Use answers that others wont have thought of. You want to stand out compared to the other candidates, and the way to do this is through your answers. For example, a common question is What is your biggest weakness? Dont try and bluff and tell them you dont have one, and dont use a very specific example as it makes you look unreliable. Use and example that can be turned into a positive. E.G My biggest weakness is not always being positive about things, however I try my best everyday (you will need to describe this a little more) This is the kind of answer that describes a flaw, however it is minor.

4. BE CONFIDENT!!! Teachers dont want a Head Girl who is nervous and quiet. They want someone passionate, approachable and likeable. Being confident is the best way to show your personality. I often find that it is the thought of the interview that makes you nervous, but when youre actually in there, you become your complete self and feel at ease and comfortable. The nerves just fade away.

5. And lastly, BE YOURSELF! Teachers will know if your putting on a facade, and if your answers are fake and used to try and **** up to them. If you are a quiet, calm person, then own it! Remember, you will NEVER get another chance like this, so try your best, challenge yourself and give your all.

Youll do great!! Xxxx

have eye contact and don't be afraid to show your personality. smile, be confident, in your speaking and posture, think of original, unique answers for the questions you are preparing for, something that the other prefects haven't thought of. This will give you a boost ahead and out of the ordinary.

I have been shortlisted for being a prefect and I also had the interview yesterday, I will find out If I will be chosen in the senior team/Prefect or if I don't make it mid- next week :P

I applied for head girl, i'm deputy head girl (tbh the head girl at my school can not be competed with lol)

So talk confidently, stay calm and speak clearly, if you are head girl your expected to communicate very clearly. Sit up straight and make eye contact to whoever you are speaking to. Keep smiling and don't look nervous. Try and be a bit original with your answers, adding a bit of humour is also good as it will show your personality. Think of some typical questions like what would you bring if you would be head girl, why your are different etc and think of some good answers. Show you are willing to spend time outside of school and mentioning some ideas on how to improve your school would look good too.

Good Luck :)
