  • What is MULTIPOLARITY
    • This is an international system which has 3 or MORE POWER CENTRES
      • This may ECOMPASS ARRANGEMENTS from TRIPOLAR SYSTEMS
        • E.g. USA/JAPAN/EU in the later decades of the 20th Century
    • These are effectively NON-POLAR systems where POWER is so DIFFUSED that it CANNOT be portrayed as a POLE
    • NEOREALISTS have argued that this CAUSES INSTABILITY & LIKELHOOD of WAR
      • This is because multipolarity CREATES a BIAS in favour of FLUIDITY & UNCERTAINTY
    • Whereas LIBERALS argue that multipolarity TENDS towards MULTILATERALISM
      • This is where there are MORE POWER SPHERES to TACKLES BIG ISSUES of the day (COLLECTIVE SECURITY)
        • This is because MORE DIVISION of the global power PROMOTES PEACE, COOPERATION & MORE INTEGRATION
        • E.g. TEORRORISM needs to be solved by multilaterism
          • MIGRATION CRISIS
            • E.g. 28 MEMBER STATES of the EU help
              • E.g. TEORRORISM needs to be solved by multilaterism
                • MIGRATION CRISIS
                  • E.g. 28 MEMBER STATES of the EU help
      • In this system, there is NO DOMINANT POWER
