  • Social Influences - The Differences
    • Conformity:  behaviour intended to match that of the majority.
      • A form of gentle persuasion.
    • Compliance: behaviour influenced by peers.
      • More pressure and stress exerted when we comply and are compelled to make a decision,
    • Obedience:  occurs when a person accepts instructions or orders from an authority figure.
      • Stronger than either conformity or compliance.  Low/high status. Potentially more at stake if choose to disobey.
